Equipping Students at Early Age

Supervisor: Louise Law

I have always been proud to be the Supervisor of Grace Baptist Kindergarten. The most objective confirmation of the school’s fine qualities should be EDB’s recent Quality Assurance Report. The Report recognized the all-round performances of our school, including school management, culture, as well as teaching and learning. The part I prize most is EDB’s appraisal of our students, including the following areas:

  1. Learning attitude: students love to attend school; they concentrate well in lessons and actively participate in classroom activities.

  2. Inter-personal relationship performance: students get along well and co-operate with each other; they know how to share things.

  3. Mastery of self-care: students manage to take care of themselves, such as how to tidy up.

I firmly believe that the above features do influence students’ entire life. If they can build a solid foundation at the first stage of their learning journey, the positive effects on their subsequent learning should be multifold. It is not surprisingly that Robert Fulghum, a famous American author, was of the opinion that: “All I really need to know, I learned in Kindergarten!”

In the Bible, Timothy was Paul’s beloved student. Paul mentioned that Timothy had learned and understood the Scriptures since childhood. This helped lay a solid foundation for his present wisdom in salvation (II Timothy 3:15).

Let me now wish all our students enjoyment plus fruitful and satisfying rewards in all their future studies at primary, secondary and university levels, because of the good habits that they have already built up at kindergarten!
